Mid-20th century, post-WWII Ame ri can vintage lithographed, enamel tin kinetic, wind-up. Metal toys & children's amusements. 12 ½" Width x 16" Height x 3 Depth. This very nice original, authentic, mid-20th century, post WWII, Julius Chein & Company, New York City, vintage lithographed enamel tin metal wind-up toy ferris wheel, is now missing its original bottom tin baseplate.
The wind-up mechanism is still present and largely intact but appears to have either a snapped-off metal band spring or the interior of the wind-up mechanism is seized, with most likely oxidation. It hasn't been worked on or serviced by anyone and remains as it was found, when it was removed from the southern New Hampshire estate where it was for decades. Still in fairly well-preserved overall vintage condition and could be stabilized with simply a wooden base plate made for it to stand the ferris wheel on or it could have a replacement baseplate installed. The wind-up mechanism failure is common among these vintage kinetic metal toys and could be serviced or altogether replaced.
Only some slight, spotty tin surface oxidation mars this otherwise wonderful post WWII, mid-20th century Ame ri can vintage tin ferris wheel from the Julius Chein & Company, New York City. Great for a sideboard, mantle, desktop, bookcase or decorating the back of a bar or coffeeshop. A wonderful blast from our collective Atomic era past. When life was slightly gentler than it is now good grief. Fair to good overall vintage condition.
