It was converted from a left side crank to a right side crank. If you know the Marx cars, the left side cranks were the Gang Busters, G-Man Pursuit and HQ Staff Car, while the right side is for the Fire Chief and Siren Police Patrol.Notice the empty crank hole on the left side. The bottom was probably painted in the dark green color to make it look original to the car (at least I think so; underside was also painted). The final "clue" is the wind-up "whines" (Fire Chief / Police Patrol) and does not "rat-a-tat-tat" (Gang Busters and G-Man Pursuit). A fun conversation piece and I had it up on my display shelf for a while. Standard length for these - 14-15 depending on whether you're missing the bumpers.
